Raccoon Pair

Posted by Bill Jennings ((Bay Area Northern Calif), United States) on 27 June 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Not my best, in that I'm distracted by the soft focus of the stump and the coon on the right of the frame = amazing how shallow f/2.0 is - especially with two coons. I plan to try again someday soon - these were at Triple D Game Farm in Kalispell, Montana.

Just made it home after a month of travel - posted a few photos from my journey to within 48 miles of the antartica circle: at nearly the longest day of the year: hence, there was 21 hours a day of sunlight...

Thank you for your patience while I was out of touch.

I do hope you followed Bob Kelly's blog (my roommate) while he is still traveling - he is now on Easter Island - and will be updating his blog for some time to come - please check it out!

Looking at you, they know you are portraiting them ! A beautiful composition !

@Marie-Hélène Ammor: I think they did know, and they still loved the camera !!!

Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United States

The coon on the left looks like it's waving to you.
The soft focus on the right doesn't bother me as the sharpness on the left shows the depth at which the sensors focused.

27 Jun 2009 1:20pm

@Judy: Yes, he was waving. Just couldn't get both of them to look and wave together !

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

Cool pair. I'm getting so excited about going to the Triple D. I leave two weeks from today. We are staying at the same place you are. Maybe we could meet you and D. the evening you arrive, which will be our last night there. (We move into the park for 3 nights then we will be back there again for our last two nights before we fly home.

27 Jun 2009 1:48pm

@B. Thomas: that sounds great. D and I arrive on the same plane into Kalispell - I'll check the schedule, and see if we get in early enough to make that work. Probably do, as I'm taking thu/fri off for the trip.

@dj.tigersprout: yes, but they are wild, and it's so easy to forget that when being four feet away from them...

Magda from Vancouver, Canada

It looks like one of them is waiving "hello" Too cute for words

26 Jul 2009 5:34pm

@Magda: the coons have that effect on the viewers - they are cute, and do seem to have a wave!
