Only have eyes for you

Posted by Bill Jennings ((Bay Area Northern Calif), United States) on 18 June 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Two woodpeckers lighted onto a nearby log, and I was fortunate to have a long lens on my camera at the time - I spun away from looking at the distant elephants at a water hole too far for a crisp shot: and caught this woodpecker couple on such an interesting log.

Just made it home after a month of travel - posted a few photos from my journey to within 48 miles of the antartica circle: at nearly the longest day of the year: hence, there was 21 hours a day of sunlight...

Thank you for your patience while I was out of touch.

I do hope you followed Bob Kelly's blog (my roommate) while he is still traveling - he is now on Easter Island - and will be updating his blog for some time to come - please check it out!

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

This branch has taken a lot of their pecking.....bet they were surprised to find each other so close in the same spot! Those long lens really create a new meaning for the word privacy.

18 Jun 2009 10:20pm

@Lambspun: yes, long lens make it really hard to have privacy - not sure the birds really minded, however - they seemed busy enough as it were.
