Silly Tuesday - Five String Guitar

Toto for his Cinco de Mayo dress rehearsal.
Just made it home after a month of travel - posted a few photos from my journey to within 48 miles of the antartica circle: at nearly the longest day of the year: hence, there was 21 hours a day of sunlight...
Thank you for your patience while I was out of touch.
I do hope you followed Bob Kelly's blog (my roommate) while he is still traveling - he is now on Easter Island - and will be updating his blog for some time to come - please check it out!

@MARIANA: We all love our toto. He was wearing a shirt yesterday on the plane that said "Lock up your daughters"... I didn't get a chance to photograph that one. Thanks for the comment, I loved your mirror, mirror shot yesterday: it made me think immediately of the story of snow white (but the witch was the one in the mirror: so that doesn't fit): so then, it must have been for the diana ross song mirror, mirror.

@Mandy Provan: Thanks Mandy - he's an adorable son, we do love him : and he takes his music very seriously, that's how he broke the string (while playing a song).

nice!! The colors are really vibrant and stand out; lovely expression! just a thought, perhaps the entire hat in the frame would have given the snap a better composition.

@Karthik: I'll try next time to get more of the hat. Some tell me the ideal placement is to try to get the eyes in the upper third of the frame - it's really a matter of practice, experimentation, and learning - isn't it?

@MrsAmber: He is such a good guitar player, he can play it almost any direction it points. He was so serious, but the broken string really sets this apart for me.

I really like how you stop the action at just the right second, Bill. The expression on Toto's face says it all.... listen to the tune and sing along! Of course the backwards guitar adds to the charm of this Silly Tuesday image.

@Barbara: Thanks Barbara - he really loves music, and is enthusiastic in all he does. He's a natural class leader, and when he sings, folks come to him like a pied piper... Just about any shot of him while there is music involved would have a great expression. He's a great son.

Nice shot Bill. Very nicely taken shot. Colorful and good DOF. I like the way you have timed to capture the expression. That's worth more than a million. Very good contrast to show the vibrant colors. Nice to see a 5 (+1) string guitar :-)

@Uday: Thanks Uday - those are great comments - you can tell the story from the photo, and that's what I aspire to do more often in my photos. I do love the colors in his hat and poncho: we probably will use them again for halloween this year.
